FFF: The Foremost Reason I Love Blogging

Many people blog for many different reasons. I have several, but I thought I would talk about my favourite reason today.

Initially, I did not really believe in the concept of blogging. In fact, I have always detested the idea of living through technology. Take Facebook, for example. Do I care that you had a burrito for dinner, or you are tired today? NO! And as for those other people that are constantly on Facebook so concerned about status updates and such…well, my attitude was, quit reading about other people’s lives and go live your own! LOL

So why is blogging different? Because it is more than social media. It requires thought and planning. It’s a conversation you have with other people you may never have met, but who share similar problems or achievements as you. You talk and you listen. You realize there are others out there like you, and that not every one lives like they do on television.

The number one reason I like blogging is it makes me go out and live my life. Otherwise, I’d have nothing to write about!

Outwardly, I am a confident person, but inside I am very much a slave to routines and find comfort in remaining within the status quo. However, with a push I will always take that leap into new territory, and I am usually glad I did.

For example, taking all three kids out by myself was a very scary proposition for me. What if the babies get fussy? What of Sawyer has to go pee? What if….?

But, I actually found some comfort in knowing that good or bad, I could blog about the experience. This meant I could share with others what I had learned and hopefully help someone in a similar situation to mine, or at least we could laugh at our failures opportunities for improvement together.

And it is amazing what a little motivation can do. Taking the girls to the doctor’s office myself. Check. Driving down to visit the in laws. Check. Trying the new recipe for dinner. Check. Going to Walmart with all three kids BY MYSELF. Check.

Reading about other people’s lives can also be so motivating. When I was pregnant, I was worried about having twins, and three under three. But, after reading several blogs by moms in my situation I started to realize if they can do it, then so can I.

There are a lot of other things I like about blogging, I get to express my opinions, it is a hobby, it gives me a record of my life so I can look back on it, I love that I get to help other people… But the main thing is, I get to live life to the fullest, and so far I am enjoying every minute of it!

So, let’s hear it. What is your favourite thing about being a blogger? Is it something you expected, or was it a complete surprise?

  1. The number one thing which has surprised me is the community. Other bloggers are so supportive. More like friends.
My main aim when i started blogging was to record my life, my journey, if my blog posts helped people along the way it was a bonus.

    • I agree totally. Although you still have to be careful because once your guard is down one bad apple can really shake you. But like with all things you have to shrug it off and move along right? 🙂

  2. Like you, I found motivation to do stuff that I would usually procrastinate about. Blogging is different from FB status updates – it’s more personal somehow, and it allows me to connect at a deeper level. Pls forgive me if I’m not making sense (it’s past midnight here, and I’m dozing off as I type).

  4. The wordpress community was definitely a surprise, a good one 🙂 also being able to post a sentence, a photo, or a long winded whinge means I don’t skip writing about the big and little stuff 🙂

  5. This is really awesome. I have so much anxiety about going out with the three kids (started with 3 under 3 but now I have 3, 4 and under. I celebrate the age jumps because they make life sound less chaotic.) I REALLY need to get better about this though because my kids are the ones missing out 😦

    • You can do it! Yesterday I did my chores, and saw the weather was nice and loaded up the kids and off we went. Then later on I was out walking my two dogs with Sawyer and the double stroller not thinking when Sawyer said he had to pee. I didn’t panic we just bolted into a nearby Petsmart and took the whole gang into the washroom. Then someone made a comment about how busy I must be. I laughed to myself at how I barely had the courage to take out Sawyer when he was a babe and here I was with everyone acting like it’s nothing. You have one more than me but I believe in you. And its not just for them, its for yourself too. It is a great feeling to overcome obstacles. Good luck!

  6. lol going anywhere with three little kids is insanity (especially when two of them can’t walk, it got soooooo much easier once they could!) i just reblogged a story about an insane trip to eat out, me with a 3.5 year old and the twins who were 7.5 months.
I blogged about it because I knew it was so insane I had to commemorate it (and share it with other crazy moms to let them know they weren’t insane to try new things!) I love rereading it. I love doing things and realizing we survived it just fine even when my carefully laid plans went awry and I never got any bad comments or troubles from the blog world, phew!

    • Good for you! I have now taken the 5mth twins and my 2yr old to Walmart by myself, mc Donalds playland for lunch, and I even walk my two medium sized dogs with them (it’s quite a sight). It is my new “normal” but I remember when the thought of just being alone with the three of them was scary!

I am so glad you were able to triumph 🙂
