Yesterday started out like any other day. I was tired because the girls hadn’t slept well, but Jeff was off so I got to sleep in a bit.
I was excited because they were having a points event at Shoppers Drug Mart. So off I went with Sawyer and got $200 worth of free stuff. Yes, that’s 30 cans of formula, two new bibs, 30 jars of baby food, two loaves of bread, 3 cases of pop, a box of haircolour, toothpaste and Vaseline! (To read more about how to save money with points programs click here).
Back to the story, Jeff’s parents were coming up to watch the kids so we could go for dinner. That is very rare for us, but it was my birthday on Thursday so they offered.
Usually if we do go out we stay in the neighborhood, but since the girls are older now, Jeff said he wanted to go to Hemingways, which is a bar downtown in Yorkville that we used to go frequent.
I was feeling lazy, and I didn’t really want to go so far, but I love nachos and Jeff really wanted to go so I figured what the heck.
When we got to the subway interchange I went to get off, but Jeff said he wanted to go to St. George station. I was not so happy with that because it meant more of a walk and I had heels on. Plus, it was just weird. Why would we not get off at the closest stop? But he used to get off at St. George everyday for work, so I figured he was on automatic.
We started walking down the street and we were passing the Royal Ontario Museum. The museum has always been one of my favorite places since I was a child (I even studied archaeology and paleoanthropology in university).
Way back when they were building the crystal extension Jeff and I had walked by one evening. They had little windows cut out in the boards so you could see the construction. We stopped to look and Jeff pretended like he was going to look through the window, and then he kissed me instead. It was our first kiss.
So there, in front of the museum, he stopped. “I love you and I brought you here for a reason” he said. I think you see what’s coming.
I’ll save you the details but amidst the onlookers, the beautiful blue sky and the museum crystal he asked me to marry him. *tear*
After over seven years and three kids we are officially engaged! OMG I guess I cam blog about wedding stuff now! LOL
P.S. it was also the exact ring I wanted that I had seen ages ago and fell in live with. It’s rose gold. He bought it back then and held on to it until now.
