Yes, I know, it seems so early, but Christmas isn’t that far away, and if you have a busy schedule like me you want to plan ahead. With lots winter of kids to shop for toys are at the top of the list.
While I don’t put up my Christmas tree until December first, and I get ticked off when I see Halloween decorations beside Christmas decorations in the store, that doesn’t mean I don’t start thinking about Christmas early.
Since the twins were due around Christmas time last year, by the beginning of December I had all my Christmas cards done and sent, and almost all my shopping completed (half of it wrapped). That December was one of the most stress free I have had in years, so I have decided to try to repeat that again this year since I will be very busy at work over the holidays.
While my kids have more than enough toys (thanks in part to their loving grandparents lol) I know that toys do make them happy. It is important to choose carefully though since you want something they will play with over and over, perhaps something slightly educational, and guilty as charged, something you would also enjoy playing with. Usually, I am pretty good at finding things for them myself. But when it comes to the other kids in my family that I don’t know as well, or are much older than my guys, I prefer to do my research.
One of the helpful resources I have come across is the Dream Toys List, produced by the Toy Retailers Association. They research and pick out the top toys on the market based on various criteria, meaning they do all the work for you. I didn’t even know some toys existed until I read about them on the list!
Although it isn’t available yet, the final Dream Toys 2013 list will be available HERE in November. Feel free to check it out if you need a little help deciding whether Cabbage Patch kids are still retro cool or its all about Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
Now, if only it was so easy to shop for the adults on my list *cough* gift card *cough*.
