Since I have been doing extra duty watching the kids lately so hubs can go out, he decided to give me the day off.
Since the girls were born I haven’t really been downtown because you can’t feasibly take a three-year old and a double stroller on the TTC, so I decided to go downtown. I wanted to get my hair cut, and I had some gift cards left from last Christmas just dying to be spent. I also needed to pick up a dress for Hubby’s staff party (I felt I deserved something new, and as skinny as I am, my party dresses are still a wee bit tight).
Going downtown was very surreal because I haven’t done it since just before I had the twins (I was down there a lot because my hospital was across from the Eaton Centre). Sine it was Christmas season then, and it is now, it felt like picking up right where I left off. Where did the year go? I still can’t believe it.
For the first time since the girls were born I didn’t have to rush (they are weaned) and it was all about me. I stayed away from kids and baby stores, and I acted like I was me, just me, not mommy me. Drank iced coffee and listened to tunes as I wandered around several neighborhoods.
I got some great deals and spent about $100. It wasn’t until the very end that I broke down and brought presents for the kids (out of love, guilt, I don’t know).
What A Wonderful Day!
